As I gathered up my things, I explained briefly what had brought me to the library.

She opened a drawer and fumbled through it. 'Ah yes,' she said, straightening up and pushing her glasses back against her nose. 'The St Birinus Gazette. Published monthly from 1895 till 1972. We don't keep it here, I'm afraid, we just don't have the room, but a lady called Ruby Mottram has every copy ever printed. She was the editor for a long time. I'm sure she'd be happy to let you look through them.'
